The active ingredient of the anti-microbial agent in Microbeguard^® Antimicrobial Papers is silver zeolite which is a carrier or delivery system that dispenses silver metal ions in a controlled release over time. The silver disrupts microbe growth by interrupting RNA (ribonucleic acid) replications that is needed for the organisms to reproduce. The silver zeolite component of Microbeguard^® Antimicrobial Papers manufactured by Agion^® is FDA listed under the food contact substance notification and is USDA listed as maintained by NSF International. It's odorless, colorless and tasteless.
